"This is why you have a reputation as a pain in the ass." "I cultivated that reputation" "Could I get you to try harder?" "Sure, cause right now I'm not trying at all" This is good writing
It was until after a couple of rewatches that I realised Toby saying to Josh "If I'm going to make you sit through this preposterous exercise..." is actually him giving an indirect apology to Josh for insisting on this meeting and acknowledgement that Josh was right.
" im so sick of confress I could vomit." Ditto 🤮
It's not the 3rd Commandment either.
He and I basically treat everything the same way: Straight into a hole and then back out again once we find out the hole is only an inch deep.
Don't ever get Toby started
"A fever could be life-threatening." Stockard Channing is masterful here. You can see the terrible weight of it, made even worse by her knowledge as a doctor. As she says later regarding the MS: "Do you have any idea how good a doctor I am, and I can't tell you why (MS happens)".
Sam and Toby were the best
There is an Indonesian language. This scene always bothers me. Nobody thought to look that up?
I still say, "I'm so sick of congress, i could vomit" regularly
The third commandment is thou shall not take the Lord’s name in vain. Toby said we’re going to get the commandments right and proceeds to quote them wrong. Honor thy father and mother is the fifth commandment.
When integrity and class mattered 😮
Toby had some of the funniest lines
Schiff’s departure in the last seasons was something that should have been avoided if possible… but he was right that his characterization wasn’t being upheld by the writing staff that took over after Sorkin left.
"I don't like what I've been accused of" I see this attitude daily from the fundamentalists online. They will say something deliberately insulting and provoking not to mention racist, and then when they are called on it, they will totally act the victim and persecuted.
Literally my biggest crush
My ex-boss threw that 'New York sense of humor' crap at me during my first annual review with her. I should have gotten her fired right then & there because the company we worked for was a Catholic-based Clinic/Hospital system.
"The greatest army in the history of the world" "When we say that, who are we comparing ourselves to? The Visigoths adjusted for inflation?"
"Just stand there in your wrongness, and be Wrong" ❤❤❤
"Am i not to thrilled about you questioning my loyalty just there" .....0_0
The Man. ❤
Donna picking Central Indiana State with no point spread against Notre Dame. 😅
"You're quite a nerd Mr. President." Sheen's delivery of "Really." and his facial expression are everything 😂
The First Lady is NOT an elected official.
Bald and all, Toby is SEXY!!!
It was the fifth commandment. Third is not taking the lord’s name in vain.
I didn’t like Andy, she was always putting Toby down he deserved better
That final clip is great. I live how Josh can be a bit of a berk, a bit of comic relief, but when he needs to be he's absolutely ice cold. Brilliant character
I'm a immortal hybrid of vampire and lycan I love this song thanks mate I
I stopped watching TV after West Wing. No other TV show made proud to be American.
gotta love Josh !
Always love how the Christian nuts didn't get the Ten Commandments right and Toby lost it 😂😂
how i would be in the white house
Wow being proud of our president. I forgot
Imagine loving a show borne of literature, culture, and the spoken/written English language and 80% of the comments having grammatical/spelling errors. tl:dr get off my lawn.
Does anyone know which episode the last scene is from? Please let me know I love that scene but can’t find it.
I just love how loyal these people are to each other. Beautiful ❤
I love seasons 1 & 2. I’ve watched it so many times.
Why does no one compliment Stockard Channing on how wonderful she is
"Victory is mine! Victory is mine! Great day in the morning, people, victory is mine. I drink from the keg of glory, Donna, bring me the finest muffins and bagels in all the land."
This is marriage masterclass!
It's the 5th damn Commandment, btw 😂

Acadia, which is so often overlooked.
Joshism is the powerful religion in this world 🌎🌎
Great Family conversation
1:50 LMAO! Even Al Caldwell made the face like, "Good God these people are morons!"
I was raised on Sesame Street, I was raised on Brideshead Revisited, and I was raised on The West Wing... Thanks for the golden memories.
I was too old to enjoy watching Sesame Street, but did watch the first episode of Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood. Toby is probably older than me, though, so how was he “raised” by Sesame Street?
I never bought Stockard Channing as a world-renowned heart surgeon. But as Jed's wife? Hook, line and sinker!
“Have you fallen on your head? Have you fallen down and hit your head on something _hard_ ?” Richard Schiff’s comedic delivery is great.
My favorite thing that Toby ever said is “it does not make my socks roll up and down”.
